1ST DAY IN MY CLASSROOM! :)

That's right! Today I was allowed to start moving my stuff into my classroom! I moved everything in by myself, even all the super heavy boxes. :)

And we received our class roster! I found out some good news. I think it's good at least. So, my principal's daughter is not in my homeroom, but I do teach her math and science. In a way, this may be a great way for the principal to get to know me better because I teach her daughter. It makes me feel like I'll always be watched, which makes me want to keep on my toes about everything to make sure I'm always giving my 115%. Also, the one 3rd grade ESE student is not in my homeroom, but I do teach him Math and Science. He has Aspergers. I am excited because I do have experience with children with Aspergers, however it is not in the academic setting. I think it will be a fun challenge. He is actually labeled gifted and talented, so his main issue is his social skills. Hopefully I can help him to be more social by the end of the year. :)

The four 3rd grade classes are actually broken up by reading ability levels. There is a low-medium class, a medium class, a medium-high class, and a high/gifted and talented class. I have the medium-high class for my homeroom. The other class I teach math and science to are the high/gifted and talented class. I am excited because it gives me the opportunity to provide enrichment activities and ask deeper how and why questions, which are all apart of the move towards Common Core anyway.

The interesting part will be how this reading ability scores translate to math and science. I honestly feel like my classes groups will be more mixed ability because I do not think the reading and math/science scores always or even typically correlate.

Anyway, here is the part everyone wants to see! Here are my first set of classroom pictures! Of course, my room is no where near done. It does give you an idea about what I hope to accomplish in my first classroom layout and design. Enjoy the pictures! Leave a comment if you read this! I love to know what my friends, family, and followers think about everything I'm doing! :)
