Basically did planning ALL day long today. We accomplished a lot. We mapped out the first two weeks of school. We wrote the first days lesson plan, but we still have a ton to do. The main issue is we haven't had our training on our math curriculum yet. And since we can't go into our classrooms or even the school yet, there isn't much else we can work on except lesson plans. Next Thursday is the math training. That should be very helpful!
We struggled a bit figuring out how the school wants their lesson plans and how what they want fits with my schema of what a lesson plan should be. I love their method, it's just not what I'm used to and is much more in depth then I know how to do. I am learning though, which is good :)
GOOD NEWS! I officially decided on my classroom theme. So the school wide theme is "Hit the ground running" and RACE- Ready to Achieve Character and Excellence. Some teachers on my theme were thinking of doing a sport for their classroom theme. I couldn't pick one, so I went with racing in general. Like checkerboard print, lots of yellow, red, and green. I bought a theme pack on TPT that had a ton of resources. And I bought myself a laminator yesterday (for $25 a Walmart- talk about an AWESOME deal!). Tonight I've been printing and laminating and cutting things to get ready for next week.
I CANNOT wait to get into my classroom and start decorating. I decided to not have much help on Monday. I feel like we will still have faculty meetings and I will need to put everything in the room, organize a bit, then go shopping for all the stuff that I realize I still need. Tuesday I'm asking everyone that can help to come. Same with Wednesday, assuming I still have a lot to do.
Well, that's it for now. Hopefully Monday I will have classroom pics to post! Yay! I'm excited just thinking about it.... :)
Happy Friday!
